Join Select Holidays on our hosted agriculture tour of Chile, Argentina & Brazil. Enjoy your experience of the wineries in the area around Santiago and see how the grapes are cultivated, picked, and the wine is produced, which is one of Chile’s biggest agriculture exports. As you cross over to Argentina you will enjoy the Spectacular Lake Cruise between Bariloche, Argentina and Puerto Montt, Chile. You will visit the largest inland grain handling system, where farmers have their grain hauled to for export. The pampas of Argentina produce vast amounts of soy beans, corn, and sunflower as well as lush pasture for the cattle farms in the area. The amazing Iguazu Falls in Brazil will leave you breathless and the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro will amaze you with sights from the Olympics plus much more. You will return home with the great memories of experiencing the farming in these countries as well as the deep culture.

Day 1: Jan. 12, 2025: Depart North America to fly to Santiago, Chile
Flight from North America for an overnight flight into Santiago, Chile. [IFM/D]
Day 2: Jan 13, 2025: Arrive Santiago, Chile
Upon arrival clear local customs and embarque on a sightseeing tour of the city, including a ride up the old funicular railway to the scenic belvedere overlooking the city. Arrive at the hotel for a light lunch, after which the rooms should be ready and we can relax from the long trip. In the evening, there is a welcome to Chile cocktail for the group transfer to hotel for a two night stay. [IFM/L/D]
Day 3: Jan 14, 2025: Santiago, Chile
Visit the country's largest fruit and vegetable wholesale market, where over half of those products move from one end of the nation to the other or distribute around the big city. We can discover the city today, from its Spanish colonial beginnings to its modern and vibrant present. The city centre offers the traces of the past, including the exceptional Museum of Pre-Colombian Art; the newer commercial and residential districts have views of modern skyscrapers, but also a great crafts market with opportunities to buy special items and enjoy the local atmosphere. Day 4: Jan 15, 2025: Santiago - Valparaiso, Chile
Travel today through the Casablanca valley, world-renown for its production of white and Pinot Noir wines. A visit to a family vineyard for a tour of the process, a tasting and a lunch in a spectacular setting. In the afternoon, travel to Chile's first and still largest beach resort, Viña del Mar, for an overnight stay at the city's best hotel on the rocks overlooking the bay and a sunset over the ocean. Day 5: Jan 16, 2025: Valparaiso - Puerto Montt, Chile
Time for a leisurely breakfast before returning to the Santiago airport and the 90-minute flight to the south to the city of Puerto Montt. Transfer a short distance to the lakeside resort town of Puerto Varas for a three night stay. [B/D]
Day 6: Jan 17, 2025: Puerto Montt, Chile
After breakfast with a view of the lake and the volcanoes, we travel out into the green valley, visiting the lovely village of Frutillar, then continuing on to a typical, mid-sized dairy farm belonging to descendants of German colonists of the 19th Century. We have lunch on the farm before returning to Puerto Varas. [B/L]
Day 7: Jan 18, 2025: Puerto Montt, Chile
We have a later morning departure, making a sightseeing tour to the nearby port city of Puerto Montt, with a walk through the local market to admire the variety of fish and shellfish on offer. We then head to a local restaurant in a pretty garden along the coast for lunch featuring the same seafood, before returning to Puerto Varas for the evening. [B/L]
Day 8: Jan 19, 2025: Puerto Montt, Chile - Bariloche, Argentina
A FULL DAY EXCURSION!
We are off after breakfast on a wonderful day through the Andes mountains by a series of buses and boats. Our Chilean guide accompanies to the border station at Peulla in the middle of the Andes, where we officially leave the country after lunch. The transport company takes us on to Puerto Pañuelo in Argentina, where the Argentine operator receives the group and takes you to your hotel in the resort city of Bariloche. [B/L/D]
Day 9: Jan 20, 2025: Bariloche, Argentina
A visit to one of the local ranches with large herds of sheep and cattle, where there are valleys with water springs or creeks which allow for natural grasslands and pastures. Return to Bariloche this afternoon. Lunch at the farm. Return to Bariloche this afternoon. [B/L/D]
Day 10: Jan 21, 2025: Bariloche - Buenos Aires, Argentina
Before going to the airport we will tour the city and go to Cerro Campanario, From the summit we can see one of the eight most impressive panoramic views in the world. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina and a 2-night stay. This evening you are entertained at a Tango Show and Dinner. NOTE: This will be a late evening. [B/D]
Day 11: Jan 22, 2025: Buenos Aires, Argentina
An early start this morning to a huge livestock market, now in Cañuelas where 8-12,000 head of cattle are sold some days for processing in the abattoirs for domestic consumption. We’ll have a chance to watch the simultaneous auctions taking place in the different areas of the market and inspect the cattle from above to get a good idea of the cattle herd of Argentina - the good and the bad come here to be sold. City tour of Buenos Aires including the colorful Boca area of the city. Following lunch, return to the hotel for a leisurely afternoon. [B/L]
Day 12: Jan 23, 2025: Buenos Aires - Rosario, Argentina
As you drive through the countryside, a stop will be made at an Angus Cattle farm, where we will have lunch. Upon arrival in Rosario, check into hotel for a 2-night stay. Dinner at the hotel or at a restaurant nearby. Rosario has 1.2 million inhabitants and is the third-largest city in Argentina. It is a major grain export, also housing the grain stock exchange, so it is known as “Argentina Chicago.” Rosario is 300 km northwest of Buenos Aires. After breakfast, we travel north of the city to visit one of the large grain terminals (Louis Dreyfus or similar). There are about 30 different terminals located on the shores of the Parana River, the northernmost reaching 345 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The largest concentration of the terminals, soybean crushing, and biodiesel plants in the world are around Rosario where the river is 30 feet deep. Barges continue up the Parana, traveling some 1,500 miles servicing Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay. Understand the operations, including It being loaded and sailing the river. Rosario also has the largest concentration of soybean-crushing and biodiesel plants in the world. [B/L/D]
Day 13: Jan 24, 2025: Rosario, Argentina
Following breakfast at hotel visit the grain port and then a big operation company. It is a leading agricultural company engaged in theproduction, classification and distribution of grain and food. Optimizes the use of productive processes, achieving maximum productivity, collecting excellent results, focusing on soil conservation, reasonability of the techniques applied, and environment protection [B/L/D]
Day 14: Jan 25, 2025: Rosario - Iguazu Falls, Argentina
In the morning visit to Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario (Board of Grain and Trade) and ACSOJA (Soybean Assn) or other ag-related organizations. Mid afternoon a flight from Rosario take us into one of the world’s most beautiful waterfalls. Iguazu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguazu River on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Paraná. Together, they make up the largest waterfall system in the world. Overnight on the Argentinian side of the falls. [B/L/D]
Day 15: Jan 26, 2025: Iguazu Falls, Brazil
Visit the Argentinean side of the falls before a border transfer into Brazil for a three night stay. This evening enjoy a Dinner, Dance and Cultural Show. [B/D]
Day 16: Jan 27, 2025: Iguazu Falls, Brazil
Take a helicopter ride over the falls (included) for a birds-eye view of this magnificent natural wonder. Visit the Brazilian side of the falls followed by a boat ride under the falls. (Warning, you will get wet). [B/L/D]
Day 17: Jan 28 , 2025: Iguazu Falls, Brazil
Visit the “Pasco Das Aves” Bird Park, before traveling into the countryside to view the Itaipu Dam, the second largest hydro electric dam in the world. Return to hotel with the balance of the day at leisure. [B/D]
Day 18: Jan 29, 2025: Iguazu Falls - Curitiba - Ponta Grossa, Brazil
Morning departure from the hotel and transfer to the airport for a flight to Curitiba, Brazil. After arriving into Curitaba, drive to the agricultural community of Ponta Grossa. Transfer to hotel for an overnight stay, with a special “Home DInner” planned this evening. [B/D]
Day 19: Jan 30, 2025: Ponta Grossa - Curitiba, Brazil
Following breakfast at hotel, visit one of the local dairy farms in the area. This afternoon visit another large grain farm operation before traveling back to Curitiba, and checking into hotel for a 2-night stay. [B/L]
Day 20: Jan 31, 2025: Curitiba, Brazil
Visit to Paranagua’s Port, the most important port in Brazil, especially for the shipment of soy beans and poultry. Visit the harbour via a boat cruise then return to Curitiba for the night.

Day 21: Feb 01, 2025: Curitiba - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Flight from Curitiba to Rio de Janeiro. Transfer to a beachfront hotel for a 2-night stay. This evening, enjoy a “Brazilian Dinner”. [B/D]
Day 22: Feb 02, 2025: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
This morning visit Sugar Loaf Mountain, rising 396 m above the harbor. Its name is said to come from its resemblance to the traditional shape of a concentrated refined loaf of sugar. A glass-paneled cable car offers 360-degree views of the surrounding city. This afternoon, enjoy a city tour of Rio will include the cathedral, Olympic sites and "Christ the Redeemer" statue, 98 feet tall at 2,300 feet above sea level and watching over the city of Rio. This is truly an amazing site. Dinner this evening at hotel. [B/D]
Day 23: Feb 03, 2025: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Flight to North America
All good things must come to an end. Free time before transferring to the airport for your evening flights back to North America. [B/IFM]
